We are pleased to announce that the new Beacon extension wing will open to patients from Monday 23.10.23. At the same time Blackmore surgery closes.
We are working hard towards finalising the new surgery in Sidmouth Victoria Hospital. At the hospital the rooms and reception are ready but we have encountered some delays with lease arrangements and getting appropriate cabling into the old building for the IT set up. As a result there will be a short delay between the opening of the new surgery wing and opening of the hospital site. I would like to reassure patients we are working as hard as we can and apologise for this delay. We are working towards an interim IT solution to get the hospital site up and running as soon as possible and will update patients as soon as we have a clear picture on an opening date.
The new wing that has opened will provide16 new clinical rooms including a new operating theatre and recovery room for skin cancer surgery and carpal tunnel surgery, new patient waiting rooms and meeting/training room. Access has been improved with the car park now having a separate entrance and exit. The main patient car park has been released back to patient parking which is very welcome.
The next phase will see reconfiguration of some internal space to provide more clinical rooms and administrative space so disruptions on site will continue for the final 3 months of works. There will be some further disruption to parking as there is some work planned to increase patient parking capacity.
We are very excited to move into this next phase and continue to work towards improving facilities for our Sid Valley patients.
