About Our Practice Charity
Our practice has an established registered charity which exists to support patients of Sid Valley Practice and the wider local community.
Originally set up as an Equipment Fund, the charity has evolved over time in response to changing local healthcare needs. Its purpose is to help fund healthcare equipment and, where needed in the future, services that are not routinely provided or fully funded by the NHS.
By raising and using charitable funds locally, we can enhance patient care, support independence, and help keep care closer to home — particularly for people who are older, living with long‑term conditions, or who may be vulnerable or at risk of isolation.
The charity is managed by trustees and works alongside, but separately from, NHS‑funded services. Its role is to complement existing care and respond flexibly to the needs of our community
How You Can Donate
Donations to the charity are entirely voluntary and very much appreciated. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps us support patients in practical and meaningful ways.
You can donate by:
- Dropping a cheque with the reception, made payable to Friends of Sid Valley Practice (in an envelope with your details to allow us to contact you)

All donations are used solely to further the charity’s aims for the benefit of patients and the local community.
How the Charity Has Helped So Far
So far, charitable funds have been used to purchase equipment that directly benefits patients and supports high‑quality care within the practice. This includes:
- Opticlar Diagnostic Set
Helps clinicians carry out thorough ear, nose, throat and eye examinations during routine appointments, supporting accurate diagnosis and reducing the need for hospital referral. - Nonin Reusable Flex Sensor
Enables reliable monitoring of oxygen levels, particularly for children and patients with respiratory concerns, allowing prompt assessment and reassurance when needed. - FeNO Monitor and Mouthpieces
Supports the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions such as asthma. Having this equipment available in the practice reduces the need for referral to hospital and allows patients to be assessed and supported more quickly and locally. - Activity Wall Set and Early Years Activity Wall Panels – in conjunction with other local charities and donations
Creates a welcoming, engaging environment for children attending the practice, helping to reduce anxiety and promoting positive early experiences of healthcare.
These investments help us provide efficient, patient‑centred care close to home, while also easing pressure on hospital and outpatient services.
While the charity has so far focused on funding equipment, its updated aims allow it to support services in the future should local needs change or NHS‑funded provision be reduced.
