To ensure we can screen all patients in line with Coronavirus guidance our online appointment booking service has been temporarily suspended. Also all normal routine appointments are being replaced with telephone appointments. You will only be asked to attend the practice if following triage by the GP / Nurse it is felt appropriate for you to do so.
Please ring the surgery on 01395 512601
As of 13th March2020) the Government advice is as follows:
- The public are being advised to stay at home (self-isolate), if they have
A new continuous cough
High temperature (37.8 degrees centigrade of higher)
This is regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases and without any testing for COVID-19.
2. Any confirmed case of COVID-19 can end self-isolation and return to normal life 7 days after the onset of their symptoms if they feel better and no longer have a high temperature. There is no need for testing.
Cough may persist for several weeks in some people, despite the coronavirus infection having cleared. A persistent cough alone does not mean you must continue to self-isolate for more than 7 days.
3. Any contacts of a confirmed case who were advised to self-isolate can go back to normal routine life as long as they have no symptoms.
Please ring the Sid Valley Practice on 01395 512601 for an appointment at either The Beacon Medical Centre or Sidmouth Health Centre.
Urgent cases are dealt with by the Duty Doctor who will book an appointment if necessary, but not always, with the patient’s own doctor. Please note, the Duty Doctor for on-the-day appointments is based at The Beacon Medical Centre.
From the 17th of March 2020 until further notice we have suspended SMS Text reminders for all appointments. Due to the Coronavirus we will now be undertaking telephone triage. If you already have a GP appointment booked you will be contacted by the GP by telephone for a consultation. Nurse appointments for reviews for Diabetic, COPD and Asthma will be a telephone consultation. Do not attend the surgery.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
