The Beacon Medical Centre

Prescriptions

You can find out about how to order prescriptions, prescription fees and exemptions here.

How to request your prescriptions

  • Request your prescriptions using SystmOnline, click here to register or through the NHS app
  • Hand your prescription request slip directly to your usual Pharmacy (by yourself or your representative).
  • Drop your prescription request slip into our main surgery letter box at Beacon Medical Centre entrance (by yourself or your representative).
  • E mail  your request to sidvalleyprescriptions@nhs.net (including your name, address, date of birth and items required).

When ordering online, please allow 5 full working days  (excluding weekends) for your prescription to be ready. Please note that if you request your prescription after 6:00pm you must allow another working day. This timing allows for the Surgery Prescription Team to process your request, for the GP to check and sign the request, send to your pharmacy and for them to then dispense your prescriptions.

The Practice has started using EPS (Electronic Prescription Service). This service allows the Practice to send your prescriptions electronically to your nominated Pharmacy. Prescriptions must still be ordered in the same way.

Please note the reception staff are not allowed to take prescription requests by fax or over the telephone. This is a practice policy provided to protect both patients and staff.

Medication Reviews

We review the repeat medications of all patients at least annually.  You may be asked to attend for a blood test, blood pressure check, appointment or to fill out a questionnaire to make sure your medications are safe and appropriate.
